Architecture elements are used to build structures in Citadel.

You can access the build menu by pressing 'B' (default hotkey).

Build Menu[ | ]

The build menu is divided in categories

Stone menu Structural elements by type (Wood, Stone, White Marble, Ornate)
Magic menu Magic elements (crafting benches, thrones, resource generators, etc.)
Decorative menu

Decorative elements (lights, decorations, etc.)

Remove element The 'Remove Element' tool

Buildings can also be enhanced by items that can be crafted, called obelisks, and that have offensive/defensive properties. (See Crafting Stations).

Buildings need a throne to belong to a character. The throne is crafted from the building menu, in the Magic categories.

Using the Building Tool[ | ]

A short tutorial and quick tips on how to use the building editor would be nice here.

List[ | ]

Structural[ | ]

There are four types of materials for building in Citadel:

  • Wood
  • Stone
  • White Marble
  • Ornate

Selecting a material from the Build menu will access that material's sub-section.

Wood has a more limited choice of builds than the other three materials.

Building Tips[ | ]

For players who already have experience in sandbox building games, learning to build beautiful structures might be easy and intuitive. Building can take a long time, but it is very rewarding, both in game experience and levels but also with the satisfaction it provides. It is also absolutely necessary for every wizard to have a suitable home to harbor his craft benches and tamed creatures which are needed to progress through the game.

Here are a few tips for players who are newer to the concept.

Build gradually[ | ]

  • Don't try to think too big at once or you will be overwhelmed by the amount of ressources required and the possibilities/impossibilities of the build tool.

Don't be afraid to try[ | ]

  • Just gather some ressources and start building.
  • The 'remove tool' is very handy to come back on a part of your building that you feel isn't just right and change it to something else.
  • As you build, you will discover new ways that your building overlaps with the environment.

Use stone rather than wood (as soon as possible)[ | ]

  • Stone provides curved walls/floors/trims whereas wood does not.
  • This greatly enhances the possibilities of building beautiful buildings.

Decorate[ | ]

  • Building functional structures is fine, but decorations and especially lightings is what will really make your buildings unique and warm.
  • It is definitely worth investing a few points into decorations to agrement your buildings with personal touches.

Use the 'Remove Tool' wisely[ | ]

  • If a wall has a window, door or any decoration on it, be sure to remove just that before you remove the wall.
  • Removing a wall with dependencies on it will destroy the dependencies without giving back materials and will only give back materials for the wall as if it were blank.
  • Furthermore, be wary when you have the 'Remove Tool' selected in the building menu because any left click over any built element you own will immediately delete it.
  • It is also good to note that though the 'Remove Tool' yields back a part of the built element's material when you delete it, it does not give you back the full materials required to build the element you just removed.
